We are the Champions- The Contest

In a thinly veiled guise as a teachable moment, I had asked my students in the Intro to Journalism and Mass Communication class to come up with a video of them playing Queen's We are the Champions song. Why? Since the Green Bay Packers won the Super Bowl, I had been playing a different version of the song 5 minutes before each class. The first day, we heard the Gregorian Chant's version, then Green Day's take. With 110 students, I figured surely more than a few of them could do as well if not better.

For the record, this is completely voluntary. No grades are attached to this exercise that demonstrates the ease of disseminating a message to the masses. However, there is a prize that has yet to be determined, but assuredly will be worth all the trouble.

Let me know what you think. Play nice.

  1. Irrelevant and unfairly skewed do to the fact that not all of us are eligible, as we do not all play musical instruments.

  2. Sing it? Remix it? Kazoo it? I don't know. Be creative with what you've got. It's just for fun.

  3. unfair? they have a talent. if you got it, flaunt it!

write a poem or do prose if you want to participate w/o a musical instrument. all in the name of creativity!

also, i dont think that we are being graded or receiving EC on this.. there's a prize, which im guessing is going to be of little value.

  4. Hum, play the kazoo, spoons. No musical instrument needed. Hey, I take umbrage on the prize with "little value" comment:) And, yes, this is all in good fun.

  5. Skewed? It's an opportunity, not a contest. Well a contest, but not a cooontest. And it's fun! I also happen to find it very relevant, considering our show is on Saturday. ?_?
